Frequently Asked Questions

What is an AI-Moderated call?

An AI‑Moderated call is a 1:1 expert interview where a GLG discussion guide is asked by an AI Moderator instead of a human interviewer. The AI agent reads each question, listens to the expert’s answers in real time, and uses GLG’s knowledge base plus your project context to probe, clarify, and follow up where needed.

During the call, the AI Moderator stays tightly anchored to your discussion guide while still asking natural follow‑ups to close gaps, define terms, and quantify details. After the conversation, you receive the full transcript and recording, which can be used in Synthesis in myGLG for quick insight discovery.

When should you use a standard expert call and when should you use an AI-Moderated call?

Both formats connect you with a GLG expert for a live 1:1 conversation, but they’re optimized for different needs. Use a standard expert call when you want to drive the interview yourself, explore unstructured or highly nuanced topics, or adapt your line of questioning in the moment based on what you are learning. This format is best when stakeholder dynamics, negotiation, or very open‑ended strategy questions are central to the conversation.

Use an AI‑Moderated call when you have a clear discussion guide, need to run the same interview across many experts, or care about consistency, speed, and comparable outputs. This works especially well for: user research,  screening many experts on the same criteria, validating a defined hypothesis, or building a dataset of structured answers tied to specific questions. Many clients combine both: using AI‑Moderated calls for scalable, comparable interviews and standard calls for deeper dives with a select group of experts on the most critical findings.

What level of follow-up does the AI Moderator provide? How persistent is it? Can the bot sense when an NM is not qualified and disconnect?

The AI Moderator provides adaptive follow-ups based on the context provided for each question — it reviews the expert's response and follows up on any portion not fully answered. It is designed to be conversational and natural rather than repetitive or fatiguing. If an expert is verbose, the AI will not interrupt them while speaking, but once a satisfying response has been provided it will summarize and move on. Regarding expert qualification — in the current version, the AI Moderator will continue through the full discussion guide even if an expert appears to be a poor fit. If a call did not provide value due to the expert's background, the GLG service team handles those situations on a case-by-case basis and can provide a credit back to the client's account.

If an expert starts sharing MNPI, would the AI Moderator detect this and end the call?

The AI Moderator will not end the call, but it will redirect the expert. GLG's compliance framework is embedded into the AI agent as background knowledge, providing guardrails designed to keep both the AI Moderator and Network Members aligned with desired objectives throughout every interaction. There is also a compliance disclaimer at the beginning of every call reminding the expert to avoid sharing any confidential information. Additionally, the servicing team can include project-level and expert-level compliance guidance as part of the setup.

Can the AI Moderator identify if the expert starts speaking in a different language?

AI-Moderated Calls are currently live in English only, with testing underway for Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Russian, Japanese, Korean, and Chinese. Experts should not switch languages mid-call, as doing so would negatively impact the transcription quality of the call. In testing, we’ve seen that the AI will switch languages for the adaptive follow ups but will then revert back to the language that the question is written in from the discussion guide.
